I see her there where the music is loud;
Where they swing and they sway in the surge of the crowd;
One among many who live just for play;
THE GIRL IN THE BLUE FLAME CAFÉ.

But there’s sadness in her eyes;
That she’s trying to disguise;

There’s something driving her, making her go;
It’s a sad recollection of sorrow and woe;
Someone who left her, alone by the way;
THE GIRL IN THE BLUE FLAME CAFÉ.

Trying to smile when the world wants her to;
But it’s so hard to smile just for something to do;
Making believe that he’ll come back her way;
THE GIRL IN THE BLUE FLAME CAFÉ.

But there’s sadness in her eyess;
That she’s trying to disguise.

He’s in her heart all the time she’s there;
She can picture his features in each empy chair;
Heartless is he who would treat her that way;
THE GIRL IN THE BLUE FLAME CAFÉ.
