Sunday Concert Schedule ~ Update

We’re pleased to announce that the final spot for Lynn Russwurm’s 2012 Summer Concert Schedule has been filled by none other than Harold MacIntye

All the concerts are either Blue Grass or  Country Music (or both) and run from
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.outdoors in downtown Elmira’s Gore Park.

The July 1st concert will very likely start a little late due to the Elmira Canada Day festivities.

Spring Weather and Live Music in Elmira

Randy Morrison and the Flatt River Band

Although there was a bit of drizzle at last week’s concert, Randy Morrison and The Flatt River Band put on a great show.

Although some of the patrons sheltered under umbrellas, the trees provided sufficient protection for most of the crowd.

And of course the skies were clearing at the end of the show.

Today’s forecast isn’t ideal, but Jimmy Phair’s concert will go ahead as planned. It’s always best to dress for the weather at outdoor venues. Even so, there’s nothing quite like live music. Hope to see you there!

The weather cleared up before the tonight’s show began, so a very good time was had by all.

June 3rd Concert Cancelled

Elmira Summer Concert Season

2012 marks the third season of Lynn Russwurm’s Gore Park Country ~ Bluegrass Concert series.  This year, the program has been extended to June.

The free concerts are held in Elmira’s Gore Park, and every show begins at 7:00pm and goes til around 9.  The show goes on rain or shine.  The bands perform in the covered gazebo, so if rain is called for, bring your rain gear 🙂

Sunday June 3rd will be the first show, and Lynn will kick off the season with a CD Release Party concert.  As always he’ll be backed up by a line up of great musicians, so you can be sure of some fine music.

Yesterday Lynn Russwurm launched his new CD at the Commercial Tavern in Maryhill.

Stan Taylor (left) was Lynn’s special guest; Paul Weber (right) hosted the show and jam.

Bob Tremblay (pictured with Lynn above) played Dobro on Lynn’s “Singing My Songs” CD

Gerry Smith (above) fiddled and Lynn’s son Lance Russwurm (below) sang on the CD.

Stan Taylor’s singing led to dancing . . .

Larry Mercey provided both songs and reminiscences of Lynn’s early days.


And of course Lynn’s new “Singing My Songs” CD was available.


A good time was had by all . . .

. . . and it’s safe to say that Lynn was tickled pink!

Stan Taylor Sunday Concert

Last Sunday Lynn put on a last minute an early bird concert in Gore Park, featuring Stan Taylor, who is currently visiting in Ontario.

In the 1950’s Lynn and Stan had their own show on a Kitchener radio station.

Doug Dietrich backing up Stan Taylor up on his steel guitar.

Bob Tremblay on his dobro with Stan on fiddle and Lance on electric guitar.

A rare glimpse of Grant Heywood tucked away in back with his drum kit.

Lance’s own debut at the age of six was on Stan and Lynn’s radio show.

Grant Heywood took advantage of Stan’s presence to present him with a Barndance Historical Society Pioneer Award.

Good music was made.

Stan will be appearing at Lynn Russwurm’s CD party at 3:00pm on Sunday, at Paul Weber’s Commercial Tavern in Maryhill, Ontario,

Stan Taylor Live: May 13 ~ 7 pm

During the summer months over the last few years, Lynn has been putting on a series of concerts in Elmira’s Gore Park. The demand has been great from both ends, so Lynn has decided to extend the series to begin in June rather than July.

This concert is not part of that series, which will start June 7th. But Lynn has never been one to miss an opportunity, and since the legendary Stan Taylor is traveling in Ontario just now, he’s organized this special concert in that same venue, Elmira’s Gore Park.

CD Release Party

During the ’60’s Lynn concentrated on writing songs, many of which have been recorded over the years by Hank Thompson, Kidd Baker, The Lewis Family, The Mercey Brothers, Michael T. Wall, Carl Smith, and even Depeche Mode‘s Martin L. Gore.

New Brunswick Hall of Famer Stan Taylor will be making a special guest appearance at this afternoon of Country Jam.
